Glamorous life style, Lionel Messi did not forget to set aside income for charity. The Barcelona star has just donated Rp1.66 billion to Argentinians. The donation was channeled from his foundation, Lionel Messi Foundation, through UNICEF since the end of last year.
Messi himself has been the ambassador of this UN agency since 2010 ago. Marca reported that the aid was distributed in the form of basic health products. The amount reaches 100 thousand euros or around Rp. 1.66 billion.
Health products were directed to an Argentine province called Chacho. In total there are around 41,600 people who benefit directly from this assistance, of which 37,755 are children.
The amount of the donation itself is clearly nothing compared to Messi’s weekly salary. Currently the Argentine star is reportedly receiving a salary of around 550 thousand euros, or around Rp.9.15 billion per week after tax deductions.
The 31-year-old player even recently bought a 2004 Gulfstream V jet at a price of Rp219 billion. It is reportedly the second private plane after previously having an Embraer Legacy 650, which is worth Rp.460 billion.
